OLIVE OIL GREECEThe Naturkraftwerke Greek extra virgin olive oil is producedfollowing a proven tradition and the methods of Demeteragriculture, using the two olive varieties Koutsourelia (alsoknown as Patrinia) and Koroneiki. In the region of WesternGreece, north of the Gulf of Patras, these traditional olivevarieties thrive on barren soils and in a special dry microclimate.The rare Koutsourelia olive yields an intenselyfruity and spicy yet fine oil, while the robust Koroneikiproduces small fruits and a mild, fruity oil. By combiningthese two varieties, a harmonious oil with multi-layered,spicy, and mildly fruity flavor notes is created.On the family farm, the olive trees have been lovinglyand knowledgeably cultivated for decades using organicmethods and, more recently, according to Demeter guidelines.From late October to mid-November, the stillgreenolives are harvested and taken to the mill on the same dayfor processing. An early harvest of green olives alwaysmeans lower yield but the best quality – a deliberate choice!In a modern facility, the freshly harvested olives are processedand cold-extracted using a centrifuge.
